Sifu Tom Grant

Sifu Tom Grant began his martial art training in the early 1970s studying with many notable Chinese masters such as Norman Chin (Jook Lum Jee Tong Long Pai), Alan Lee (Alan Lee's Chinese Kung Fu Wu Su System), Wan Chi Ming (Hung Ga Kuen) and Shaolin Monk Shi Yan Chang (Shaolin Chuan).   Sifu Grant, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, has had exposure to numerous real life close combat situations.  While stationed overseas in the Far East, he studied Chinese, Okinawan and Korean martial art in their places of origin.  Sifu Grant has studied numerous styles of Chinese martial art of both Northern and Southern origin.  Some of these styles include:  Tam Tui, Shao Hung Chuan, Da Hung Chuan, Tong Bei Chuan, Pao Chuan, Lohan Chuan and Hung Ga Jop (Village Style Hung Ga). 

Ultimately, Sifu Grant began training in his chosen style, Traditional Canton Hung Ga Kung Fu, under the tutelage of Master Yee Chi Wai in 1983. Sifu Grant, having achieved the level of Yup Sut (Inner Chamber) disciple, is one of Master Yee's original Chinatown, New York City students.  Currently, Sifu Tom Grant is the head instructor of the South Plainfield, NJ branch of Yee's Hung Ga International Kung Fu Association.  The South Plainfield branch has been involved in and is available for Kung Fu demonstrations and traditional 7 Star Lion Dance.
